This place has taught me that not all Manchu Woks are the same. This kind of sucks because I think the aspect of chain restaurants I like the most is the consistency. I know this isn't authentic Chinese by any means but Canadian Chinese delivery is expensive and Manchu Wok is cheap, and when the craving hits you like a truck, Manchu Wok is there for you, all for a reasonable price.
Sadly the food at this particular Manchu Wok is awful. I got the general Tao chicken, egg roll, spicy beef stir fry, and noodles. The noodles were really the only acceptable part of the meal, they weren't all that bad. The General Tao was really bad, the sauce tasted sour and weird and I suspect they didn't cook the chicken well enough or something, because the batter was grainy tasting. The beef was really not good either, it tasted like it was sitting there for a really long time and the beef tasted kind of funny. Know what it reminded me of? The beef in the canned stews you get. The egg roll wasn't filled even half way, that was the first time I've had that problem I think. Like they just decided to fill it up with half the filling it usually gets.
I generally love this inauthentic restaurant for some quick, cheap Chinese but this location didn't cut it.
